Chainsaw Man’s Reze Arc Movie Earns 5.4 Billion Yen, Meets Targets Set By Toho

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc surpassed 5.4 billion yen in box office revenue and recorded 3.55 million admissions in the 24 days since the movie’s release in Japan. In doing so, the film has now exceeded the 5 billion yen revenue target that Toho had set.

The movie was released in 421 theaters across Japan. On its first day, it earned 420 million yen from over 272,000 admissions. At the time, Toho had explained that the initial performance indicated the film could reach a final gross of 5 billion yen, a milestone it achieved in less than one month.

The movie debuted No.1 at the Japanese Box office, earning 1.251 billion yen over its opening weekend. It then went on to earn close to 3 billion yen in its first 10 days of release.

The Reze Arc movie only needed to earn 2.15 billion yen in the Japanese box office to recoup the amount that was invested in it.

Additionally, a third round of theatrical gifts for attendees was announced. Starting Oct 18, 2025, moviegoers will receive a shikishi, an illustrated card, drawn by the manga’s author, Tatsuki Fujimoto.

The illustration depicts an “if” scenario of characters Aki Hayakawa and the Angel Devil in school uniforms. A previous theatrical gift also featured an “if” scenario with the characters Denji and Reze.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc continues the story from the TV anime’s final episode, which aired in 2022, adapting the incidents chronicling the combat with the Bomb Devil, where Denji meets a mysterious girl named Reze, leading him into a whirlwind of romance and brutal conflict that forever changes his fate.

The film is produced by MAPPA, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who previously helmed episodes 4 and 10 of the Chainsaw Man anime, and written by Hiroshi Seko. Yoshihara replaces Ryu Nakayama who helmed the first season of the anime.

The series is based on the manga of the same name by Fujimoto, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018. Part 1 of the manga, known as the Public Safety Arc, concluded in December 2020, with Part 2 currently being serialized on the Shonen Jump+ digital platform since July 2022.
