YOASOBI’s ‘Idol’ & Creepy Nuts’ ‘Bling-Bang-Bang-Born’ Win Big At First-Ever Music Awards Japan

YOASOBI’s “Idol” and Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” were among the top winners at the Premiere Ceremony of the inaugural Music Awards Japan, held on May 21, 2025, by the Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA).

The Music Awards Japan was launched by CEIPA to recognize excellence in Japanese and pan-Asian music. The awards cover over 60 categories, including anime, idol culture, Vocaloid, and more.

YOASOBI’s “Idol,” the opening theme for the anime Oshi No Ko, won Best Anime Song and Best Music Video.

Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,” the second-season opening theme for Mashle: Magic And Muscles, earned a total of seven awards.

It was also nominated for Best Anime Song alongside 10-FEET’s “Dai Zero Kan” from The First Slam Dunk and Mrs. Green Apple’s “Lilac” from Oblivion Battery.

Other anime-related wins included King Gnu’s “SPECIALZ,” which won Best J-Rock Song and was used as the opening for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. The band was also named Best J-Rock Artist. Hitsujibungaku won Best Japanese Alternative Song for “more than words,” which served as the ending theme for the same arc in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.

Additional winners announced during the ceremony include:

  • Best Japanese Song Artist: Mrs. Green Apple
  • Best Japanese Dance Pop Artist: Atarashii Gakkō!
  • Best Dance Performance: “Otona Blue” by Atarashii Gakkō!
  • Best Japanese R&B/Contemporary Artist: Hikaru Utada
  • Best Japanese R&B/Contemporary Song: “Automatic” by Hikaru Utada
  • Best Japanese Alternative Artist: Hitsujibungaku
  • Best Japanese Singer-Songwriter: Kaze Fujii
  • Best Japanese Singer-Songwriter Song: “Kaiju no Hanauta” by Vaundy
  • Best K-pop Song in Japan: “Ditto” by NewJeans
  • Best Cross-Border Collaboration Song: “Feelin’ Go(o)d” by Kaze Fujii and A.G. Cook
  • Best Instrumental Song: “aruarian dance” by Nujabes (Posthumous)
  • Best Vocaloid Culture Song: “Senbonzakura” by Kurousa P
  • Best Classical Album: Opus by Ryuichi Sakamoto (Posthumous)
  • Best Radio-Break Song: “Love is more Mellow” by Rikon Densetsu
  • Largest Live Audience Award: WEST.
  • Best Idol Culture Song: “Watashi no Ichiban Kawaii Tokoro” by FRUITS ZIPPER
  • Top Japanese Song in Asia: “Lemon” by Kenshi Yonezu

Nominees were selected using an automated system that pulled data from Billboard Japan, Oricon, GfK/NIQ Japan, Luminate, and other sources. Final winners were chosen by a group of more than 5,000 music industry professionals from Japan and overseas.
