Data released by the anime and manga database MyAnimeList (MAL) has provided insight into the top anime series for the Spring 2025 season in the United States and India, with Fire Force Season 3 ranking highest in both regions.
The previously non-public data was shared by MAL CEO Atsushi Mizoguchi during a recent interview with the Japanese business publication Nikkei XTrend. The statistics detailed the top series added to users’ My List and Plan to Watch categories.
In the United States, Fire Force Season 3 was the most-added series to My List with 56,466 additions. It was followed by Shinichiro Watanabe’s original anime Lazarus, from studio MAPPA, which was added 51,513 times.
The romantic comedy Witch Watch secured the third spot with 36,359 additions. The sequel WIND BREAKER Season 2 and the spin-off My Hero Academia: Vigilantes rounded out the top five.
For users in India, Fire Force Season 3 also led the My List category with 7,253 additions. It was followed by Witch Watch at 6,636 and WIND BREAKER Season 2 at 6,454.
The data indicated different viewing preferences compared to the U.S., with series like I’ve Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level and Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive? ranking fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Plan to Watch list in India also placed Fire Force Season 3 in the top position with 3,827 entries. I’ve Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level was second with 3,657 entries, and Witch Watch was third with 2,338.

Notably, Lazarus, which ranked second in the U.S. lists, placed eighth in India’s My List and seventh in its Plan to Watch list.
A comparison of this regional data with overall data on the platform showed some differences in placement. WIND BREAKER Season 2, which holds a user score of 7.64 and ranks second in terms of number of users, did not place in the top two for either country’s My List. It ranked fourth in the U.S. and third in India.
Meanwhile, The Beginning After the End, which ranks fifth overall in terms of number of users, languished in the bottom half of both US (8th) and India’s (10th) My List, whereas it failed to make it to the Plan to Watch list. The anime had received severe backlash for its poor production quality.
