Three years after the second season concluded, Akihito Tsukushi’s manga Made In Abyss is returning with a brand-new theatrical anime project.
The upcoming project will be a full-fledged anime film series, with the first installment titled Made In Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (Awakening Mystery) slated for release in 2026. The movie will continue the story from the 2022 anime season The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, serving as a direct sequel.
Studio Kinema Citrus, which handled all previous installments in the franchise, is returning to animate the new films.
The announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual.
The first season of the anime aired from July to September 2017. A sequel film, Dawn Of The Deep Soul, premiered in Japan in January 2020. A second season, The Golden City Of The Scorching Sun, aired from July to September 2022.
Made In Abyss manga has been serialized online in Takeshobo’s digital publication Web Comic Gamma since October 2012. Volume 14 of the manga was released in Japan on Aug 8.
