Kodansha Steps Up For Global Creators With Its New Kodansha Manga Academy

On October 16, 2025, Kodansha launched its new vision, named Kodansha Manga Academy. Kodansha Manga Academy is a guidebook for new and veteran mangakas outside Japan on how to publish their manga with Kodansha.

The website provides all the necessary details on becoming a publisher, such as meeting with an editor, sharing your story, getting it approved, and lastly, running your series in Kodansha.

The mangakas in Japan can directly walk into Kodansha’s editorial department. They will listen to the story, and if they find it interesting, they may immediately assign you an editor. However, for mangakas outside Japan, they can submit their work directly on their Days Neo website.

The Kodansha Manga Academy website also showcased case studies of a creator from Spain named Juan Albarran. The website also has comments from famous manga creators such as Makoto Yukimura (Vinland Saga), Peach-Pit (Shugo Chara!), Hajime Isayama (Attack on Titan), and Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura (Blue Lock).
