Your cosplays span various genres, from anime to other genres. How do you select which characters to portray, and what draws you to them?
Balancing accuracy with personal style can be challenging in cosplay. How do you infuse your unique artistic touch into each character while staying true to their original design?
Ravengriim: I like to tweak the cosplays to match my aesthetic more with certain ones, especially if I’m cosplaying a male character. I’ll add a long wig and a skirt or more feminine aspects to suit my style. I also think my tattoos add some personal style!

Creating detailed cosplays often involves overcoming obstacles. Can you share a particularly challenging project and how you tackled it?
Ravengriim: I find making clothing from scratch particularly challenging. I know so many amazing cosplayers who make everything from scratch. So, while I’m able to craft props, smaller things and alter pieces, I am certainly trying to tackle things on a larger scale.
Your gothic aesthetic is a signature aspect of your work. What inspired this style, and how has it evolved throughout your cosplay journey?
Ravengriim: I have always had an affinity for the darker things in life, especially style. I’ve experimented with many alternative styles growing up but have always had a darker style. I would say cosplay is mostly separate from my personal style, though I have been asked if I’m in cosplay when I’m in my personal clothing.
Are there any anime characters you’ve wanted to cosplay but found too challenging?
Ravengriim: There are some I have yet to tackle for that reason but I will take on the challenge eventually.
Engaging with a large online community requires effort. How do you maintain a strong connection with your followers and encourage meaningful interactions?
Ravengriim: I try to respond as much as I can and if I see people requesting certain cosplays or types of videos, I keep it in mind!
What’s your go-to technique for styling anime wigs to match exaggerated hairstyles?
Ravengriim: This is an area I am always working on. It’s difficult to explain in a concise way but I would say crimping the wig, steaming it, and teasing it are all very important steps. After that you can style the spikes and details.
If there are separate shapes you need to attach, use wire, tape. and batting to create the structure then cover it with hair. Make sure to make the wefts first by gluing the tips so that hair stays together!
The cosplay community is continually evolving. What trends do you foresee shaping its future, and how do you plan to adapt?
Ravengriim: I think the community is incredible and it is growing for sure. I always try to adapt, but cosplay is about having fun and being yourself so that’s the most important thing!

Managing the demands of content creation and personal well-being is crucial. What strategies do you employ to ensure a healthy balance between your professional and personal life?
Ravengriim: This is a work in progress actually! Since there is no separation from work and my personal life, I find balance a bit difficult but putting down the phone and focusing on being in the moment is helpful. It’s certainly hard to remember to do, though!
Are there any anime trends or upcoming series that inspire your future cosplay plans?
Ravengriim: There is a character called Esil in Solo Leveling that I’ve been wanting to cosplay so I plan on that as well as so many others! I’m excited for the new Devil May Cry, Apothecary Diaries, Solo Leveling of course and more.
If you could bring one anime character you’ve cosplayed to life, who would it be and why?
Ravengriim: This is such a difficult question! I would love for so many characters to come to life, but I think I’d have to go with Gojo Satoru or Sung Jin-woo. I can’t say the reason is that deep, they are just characters that I like.
