Leaks that have surfaced on social media platforms have revealed that Gege Akutami’s new manga, Mojuro, is a sequel spin-off of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. It will pick up where the original manga ended, focusing on the story of Yuta and Maki’s grandkids.
Akutami is writing the story while Yuji Iwasaki will be in charge of the manga’s art. Mojuro will reportedly run for three volumes, being serialized for close to six months.
In his comment, Akutami said that he had previously received multiple offers to work on Jujutsu Kaisen‘s spin-offs. However, afraid that the series would spread out in a way which he won’t be able to control, the author declined the offers.
But with the latest offer, Akutami felt that he could delve more into the setting and expand the story. And after many planning meetings he decided to open doors to an entirely new era of Jujutsu Kaisen with Mojuro.
The author also praised Iwasaki’s talent, calling him amazing and noting that his art was superb. In the end he hoped that the new series will act as a doorway for fans into Jujutsu Kaisen.
Mojuro will debut in Issue #41 of the magazine on Sep 8, 2025.
The end of Jujutsu Kaisen had elicited mixed reactions, with some readers feeling the story wrapped up too abruptly and left certain plot points unresolved. They will be looking forward to the new series to see if can tie up those loose ends, or atleast add more depth to the already elaborate lore of the jujutsu world.
