Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will be going on an indefinite hiatus due to health concerns of its author Kanehito Yamada and artist Tsukasa Abe. The announcement was made through a statement released on the series’ official X account on Oct 14, 2025.
According to the statement, the decision was made after discussions between the creators and the Weekly Shonen Sunday editorial department. Taking the authors’ health into consideration, it was agreed that the series would take a temporary break while adjusting its serialization pace and publication format in the future.
It was also confirmed that both Yamada and Abe will continue to work on the story during the hiatus, with the editorial team pledging to provide full support as they recover.

Thank you very much for your continued support and readership of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
After discussing with the creators, Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, and taking into consideration their health conditions, the editorial department has decided to adjust the serialization pace and publication format moving forward. As a result, the series will be on hiatus for a while.
Both creators are continuing to work on the manuscript, and the editorial department will keep supporting them as they proceed.
Details regarding the specific timing of the series’ return will be announced in future issues of Weekly Shonen Sunday.
