Fire Force S3 Ep 3: Battle For Akitaru Obi Begins

Fire Force Season 3 Episode 3 just dropped and has brought the heat, pun not intended. The battle for Akitaru Obi’s freedom begins with Shinra Kusakabe and Joker blasting through the Fuchu prison’s underground tunnel.

Shinra is concerned for Obi yet cannot brush aside his feelings of respect and admiration for Captain Burns. He admits to himself that he always viewed Burns as a father figure and now must fight him for Obi’s sake.

Meanwhile, Joker reminds Shinra that the longer he delays the battle the more difficult it will be for them to win as Burn’s ability to sustain heat and impart damage will exceptionally increase.

While Shinra contemplates attacking Burns, the rest of squad 8 is infiltrating the prison through a different path and comically loses Arthur on their way. They blast through the prison walls and go against Gold who has a unique ability of commanding magnetism.

Although, without Arthur, it is difficult for the remaining squad 8 members to fight Gold, Tamaki is resolved to finish this with help from others. On the other side of the prison, Shinra and Joker are getting pushed back by Burns who to mock them brings out Obi chained to a metal cross.

Upon constant questioning by Shinra, Burns gives him a vague answer as to why all of this happening and tells him that changing the planet to a Sun is its fate. He further states that he has witnessed the true God through Evangelist and his faith in the Sun God has shaken due to it.

This enrages Shinra as Burns is ready to destroy the entire planet and its people just to be one with God. To which Burns mocks him saying that destruction isn’t the end and it will lay the foundation of a new beginning in the realm of Adolla.

The philosophy that Burns follows is embodied in Buddhism and Hinduism albeit the author has twisted them to make them suit the storyline. Whereas, Burns’ fanaticism towards the Evangelist is similar to those of Abrahamic religious extremists.

This showcases the author’s brilliant ability to grasp the real world’s issues and wrap them into his story to make it better. Although, all the philosophies mentioned are twisted to fit into the story’s narrative. While Shinra and rest of the Squad 8 are fighting for Obi’s life, we as fans must realise the hidden message behind this narrative is to put aside our differences and stand together.

A message that should be the core belief of everyone living on this beautiful planet we call earth.
