Attack On Titan Manga’s Magazine Offers Redemption For Rejected Manga Ideas With New Contest

Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, the publication that serialized Attack On Titan manga, has launched a new competition allowing creators to resurrect their previously rejected manga ideas.

Titled the ‘Revenge Name Competition,’ this initiative offers a second chance for creators who once faced rejection but still believe in their concepts.

The competition, which opened for submissions on May 8, 2025, invites creators who have held onto concepts that were previously turned down.

Why not take revenge in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine? Even if a project was previously rejected for various reasons, there are surely ideas that can and should be realized now! We invite you to submit your powerful ‘revenge’ names for a chance at serialization!,” the editors urged in their announcement.

The competition guarantees that at least one submission will be serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine and published as a standalone volume.

Creators whose submissions show strong potential but are not immediately selected for serialization will receive support from a dedicated editor at Weekly Shonen Magazine, who will help them develop their ideas further.

Bessatsu Shonen Magazine is a Japanese monthly manga magazine published by Kodansha. The magazine was started in September 2009 as a spin-off of another Kodansha magazine, Weekly Shonen Magazine.

It was launched with a mission to explore ideas that couldn’t be realized in Weekly Shonen Magazine.
